For some people, romance and warmth are two words that just have to go together. If you love the hot air, Arizona is the place.

Arizona is a perfect place to take your next weekend trip. Sunshine, combined with the desert climate and beautiful Native American imagery make this state a great spot for any vacation. The Grand Canyon should be at the top of anyone’s must-see list, and it can inspire romance in any couple. The red rocks of Sedona also make a good backdrop for romantic destinations in Arizona, as do many of the smaller towns and tourists attractions scattered throughout the state.

Arizona is generally divided into two regions – northern Arizona and southern Arizona. Each area has its own charms, and each area is equally suited to a romantic retreat. In the north, the town of Sedona attracts many followers of New Age spirituality, as well as seekers of natural beauty. In the southern region of Arizona, the Sonoran Desert offers visitors desert vistas, as well as many historical spots that will remind tourists of the old Wild West.

One of the most romantic destinations in Arizona has to be found in the beauty of Sedona. L’Auberge de Sedona (translated from the French as the Inn of Sedona), located within the town itself, is the most luxurious and romantic spot in the area. Rated among Travel & Leisure’s 500 Greatest Hotels in the World, L’Auberge offers a beautiful setting along Oak Creek for your romantic stay. The resort itself has three options for your accommodations, including individual cottages, guest rooms and suites in the Lodge, and the Creek House – a four bedroom vacation home that’s the ultimate in luxury and privacy for your extended stay or weekend trip.

Perhaps the most secluded and intimate of the accommodations here at L’Auberge de Sedona are the cottages sprinkled throughout the property. As some of the most elite spots for romantic destinations in Arizona, the 31 cottages offer a seductive blend of American and French Southwestern style. Included in your stay at these individual little hideaways are wood burning fireplaces, turn down service, a mini bar and complimentary coffee/water, down bedding and spa quality hair and skin products. Room service and all other amenities are available in the cottages as well as in the suites and rooms at the Lodge, making these little bungalows perfect for your alone time.

Spending some time together at one of the romantic destinations in Arizona will be a vacation that you won’t soon forget. With the natural beauty of the surroundings, combined with the luxury of the resorts available here, Arizona will be one spot you will return to for many special occasions.

City of Tempe

Tempe has an ideal location. The city is surrounded by so many glorious Valleys in the Sun cities that you may never figure out where to start

Phoenix is 6 miles to the west, Scottsdale to the north, Mesa to the east, and Chandler to the south. So there you have it- a diamond of a city that seemingly stands out among its sister gemstones, all set in a stellar city setting.

Wow!

Now just ask yourself if you feel lucky- it’s all peaches and cream, oh what a dream! You’ll know from the sights, the sounds and the smells that you’re right in the middle of it all. So drink it all in and don’t be shy- you know you really earned it!

Tempe’s centralized location is easy to access the extensive freeway system that networks the Valley of the Sun. Tempe covers about 40 square miles. The city is ideal for those who want to get around.

Climate

The climate is typical of the southwest. There is a mild winter that is balanced by a long hot, dry summer. Many have claimed that the dry, hot summer conditions have helped to relive many of their allergy symptoms.

Summer days are clear and spectacular and the temperatures are truly remarkable. Spring and autumn are mild transitions into the other seasons. There is a brief monsoon season that is truly extraordinary.

Tempe History

The story of Tempe is the story of one man, and that brave man was it was in 1869, while Hayden was on a trip from Florence to Prescott that he discovered the area that came to be Tempe.

Hayden decided to wait a couple of days before crossing the Salt River because it was running too quickly at the time. During his wait, he hiked up the butte and noticed the potential of the surrounding area. Soon afterward he filed a homestead of 160 acres near the butte.

He also joined in with a group to file claim to receive water from the Salt River for a new business venture called the Hayden Milling and Farm Ditch Company.

In 1858, Hayden was appointed federal judge in Tucson. Hayden opened a store and flour mill along the Salt River in 1872. He worked on building a canal along the base of the butte to bring water to the mill for grinding.

Then in 1873, he started construction of an adobe style home and built a cable operated ferry across the river. Later on, Hayden moved his freighting operation from Tucson up to this area. Eventually, a blacksmith shop, store, orchard and vineyard sprang up.

As time passed, more settlers arrived from Tucson and southern Arizona to help build canals in the area.

When the mill was completed in 1874, the area began to grow again. Hayden persuaded the new community to join him. It is believed that the name Tempe came from Darrell Duppa. Duppa had looked out on the land and remarked that it resembled the Vale of Tempe in Greece. Try it yourself and see what you think.

The construction of the Maricopa and Phoenix Railroad crossing at the Salt River encouraged more growth. Tempe began to grow by becoming cattle shipping point, a railroad junction and main agricultural place. By the 1890’s there were farms growing dates and citrus. Although, the wheat, barley and oats crops helped the mill continue its business.

When the Roosevelt Dam was finished in 1911, irrigation became easier and the town grew again.

In 1929 the normal school became the Arizona State Teachers College. Later in 1945, the school changed its name again, this time to Arizona State College. Finally, in 1958 the school became Arizona State University.

When most people think of the city of Tempe, they think of Arizona State University. It is hard to imagine that this university began in 1885 on a donated five acre cow pasture. Today, the campus covers an amazing 700 acres and is located in the center of Tempe.

But that’s what happened. And that same cow pasture lies at the very heart of this noble institution that helps feed the fertile minds of the new generation of mostly Americans. With all this, is not the future assured- your welfare secured? Tempe, It’s a great place where you can help yourself but even a better place for getting the good feeling that you’ve helped someone else, somewhere.

Tempe Entertainment

Tempe is the cultural center of this state. There are any number of theatres and halls that sponsor plays, concerts and the like- many times of top-level performers.

There are also a number of outdoor festivals, most attached to some holidays, that draw folks from far and wide to see what all the commotion is about.

These events are so numerous that it is best to go to the city website at http://www.tempe.gov/ and find out what’s going on.

The Tempe library tries to provide its patrons with the best in available entertainment media. Print and digital media resources seekers will be happy to see a broad selection of items. And Spanish speakers will also be pleased to note the increased awareness of diversity and its major role in the strength of Tempe as reflected in the increased budget devoted to Spanish language acquisitions. Que bueno!

The Tempe Historical Museum sees their facility as a hallowed ground where the community can join together happily to celebrate all the good things that Tempe got in the past and ponder the uncertain future.

The whole idea behind the exhibits and everything is just to get people to give up their past so we can all get a different future. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

Outdoor Activities

The area is unexcelled for hiking climbing, camping and horse back riding. You can also get to the nearby Salt River and raft the day away.

There are also a wide variety of parks for all purposes and interests that cater to the members of the coddled community. Don’t you want to be among the selected few- or to just feel like you are? That special feeling is largely what Tempe is all about!

And don’t miss the thought provoking Double Butte Cemetery. Do you know why it is called Double Butte? Well you must visit to find out!

Don’t forget about Diablo Stadium- the Home of the Sun devils! This college stadium actually hosted the Arizona Cardinal NFL franchise for several years before the area could come up with the funding for a separate professional sports facility like they do in NY, LA, CHI, SD, well, you get the picture. And the picture is popping, as Tempe- much like the rest of Arizona, scrambles for a seat at the 21st century dinner table.

Good luck!

Arizona is one of the most beautiful desert states in America. It is home to the Grand Canyon, the red cliffs of Sedona, mountains, and endless sights in Phoenix. And perhaps the best way to see all these attractions is to travel by RV whenever and wherever you like.

The cost of owning an RV, or the long drive from your home to Arizona may make RV travel seem impossible. It’s not. The solution: renting an RV in Arizona.

KOA, or Kampgrounds of America, provides a list on its Web site of its preferred Arizonan RV rental agencies, which are located throughout the state. The larger cities like Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff and Mesa all have RV rental agencies.

The class-C motor home is the most popular RV rental for families or couples. The motor home has one double bed, but can comfortably sleep six to nine people. It also has a toilet and shower, microwave and refrigerator in the kitchen, and heating and cooling. Most Arizonan RV Rentals also sell home-keeping kits with dishes and linens for your trip, perfect for when you fly into Arizona.

The summer season in Arizona lasts from the end of May to the start of September. This is the busiest and most expensive time to rent an RV in Arizona. RV rentals in the off-season cost around $20 a day less than during the summer season. You will generally get a cheaper per day rate the longer you rent your RV.

Before you rent, shop around. Pay particular attention to the pricing of each Arizonan RV rental agency and find a scheme that works for you. Many companies charge a day rate on top of an additional mile charge. Also ask about insurance, as your car insurance may not cover the RV rental. Ask about clean-up costs and if a security deposit is needed. A little preparation in the beginning can save you money and frustration in the long run, but don’t forget to have fun along the way!

RV Rentals Info provides detailed information about RV rentals in the United States, focusing on California, Alaska, Utah, Texas, Florida, Arizona, Minnesota, and Las Vegas, Nevada, as well as discount RV rentals, and more. RV Rentals Info is the sister site of RV Insurance Web.

If you live in Arizona, you may be surprised to find out that the perfect vacation destination is not that far away. If you want to experience a relaxing and fun vacation without the hassle (and steep prices) of air travel and rentals cars, you may not have to look any further than your own backyard.

Sedona
With year-round balmy temperatures and sunny skies, Arizona is the perfect vacation spot if you are looking for some outdoor adventure, starting with picturesque Sedona. Known as red rock country, picturesque Sedona is teeming with red rock monoliths and towers, creating some of the most visually stunning landscapes found anywhere. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery and visit Sedona’s unique shops and restaurants.

The Grand Canyon
Did you know that many Arizona residents have never even seen the Grand Canyon? You have not truly seen experienced Arizona unless you have experienced the majestic Grand Canyon. Carved over thousands (if not millions) of years by the Colorado River, the Grand Canyon is one of the largest canyons in the world at 277 miles long and at times 18 miles wide and nearly a mile deep. Declared one of the natural wonders of the Earth, you must experience this breathtaking landmark.

Local Resorts
Why not stay at a local resort? Phoenix has some of the best in the nation. Book a weekend at a luxurious resort and spa and you will feel like you are on a relaxing vacation at some far off destination without the hassles of travel.

Golfing
With more than 300 courses located throughout the state and sunny days year-round, Arizona is a golfer’s paradise. Plan a golfing vacation where you play at a different course each day or attend golf school (which most resorts with courses offer) to sharpen your skills.

Greer
Greer is a magnificent little town located in eastern Arizona. Nestled in a mountain valley in the White Mountains, Greer boasts a beautiful woodland setting and all four seasons. It is also near the best ski resorts in the state. Book an Arizona vacation rental in Greer anytime of the year to experience the scenic outdoors up close and personal.

Sports Enthusiasts
Sports fans gather from all over to experience the wide range of professional sports in Arizona, which include the MLB Arizona Diamondbacks, the NBA team the Phoenix Suns, the NHL Coyotes, and the NFL Arizona Cardinals. In addition, a number of championship games are often held in Arizona, including college bowl games and the Super Bowl.

Sedona, Arizona is alive with energy and has 15-20 energy vortex sites located within a 15-20 mile radius. As you arrive in Sedona like many other emotionally weary traveler’s from all walks of life and all corners of the planet, you find yourself wondering-will I feel it? If I sit very still and focus my full attention will I feel the mysterious “energy” and possibly get a vision or two while I am here.

Sedona Arizona is the land of many vortex sites. A vortex can be explained as a place on the earth where energy is either entering the earth through lay lines (energy lines) or it is projecting out of the earth. Lay lines run on the earth, just like the acupuncture meridians or energy lines that run through our body, and connect to our chakras and organs. The earth has a chakra system, and meridians that connect this system, just like our own system. When the vortex has energy that is entering the earth, it is a feminine vortex, and enhances meditation and going within. It is also considered magnetic energy (drawing in). The energy vortex sites that have energy leaving the earth are considered masculine vortex sites and are electro-magnetic. Male energy vortex sites are considered best for practicing Chi Gung, meditations on your goals that you want to manifest, or any more active practice.

For those with a very logical mind-you may want something tangible that you can feel, see, or perhaps hear. Think about the energy that travels through the circuits and electrical lines of your home, you cannot see it. The energy that runs through our own body can’t be seen except with kirilian photography, yet you know when your energy feels low and you need sleep.

Each Sedona vortex, has a quality of energy, and therefore will enhance certain healing meditations. Many people come to Sedona to find healing on various different levels. Some seek clarity and direction, while others seek inner emotional healing, and still others pray for physical healing from many chronic diseases. We also have those who are just curious, and want to see if they “feel” anything or if all this is just new age hype.

I have been visiting Sedona Vortex Sites for more than eighteen years. During my many visits I have experienced healing on all levels. I was drawn to Sedona shortly after my first divorce, and was seeking inner healing and clarity in my own life. The vortex that I was most drawn to at the time was Boynton Canyon. Boynton is balanced in male and female energies, and is a magical place for healing wounds from divorce, and other imbalances in male/female energies.

Another favorite place in Sedona is Airport Mesa. The views are awesome there, and the energy is so strong that most are able to connect with it, and experience major shifts and insights.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross in the Red Rocks holds unmatched beauty, and the energies in the chapel are mystical and emotionally healing. If you are a hiker, there is a wonderful hike in this area. It is well marked, and moderate enough so that most can handle the challenge.

Next in line of favorites is Indian Gardens. In Oak Creek Canyon along Oak Creek are magical springs that feed Oak Creek. Our Ancestors have respected and revered these waters for their magical healing powers, for centuries.

Each person who ventures into the vortex sites will have their own inner and outer journeys. If your plan is hiking each vortex, while hoping to catch the energy during your hurried treks; you are likely to miss an energy experience.
You don’t have to settle for the same boring trip every year. Try some of these travel destinations for some fun family vacation ideas.

The Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is simply awe inspiring and most definitely a fun place to visit. Remember that this is quite a popular destination so make your reservations in advance. Don’t wait till the last minute, especially if you want to do some of the really interesting activities such as one of the mule trips. Remember that the South Rim is open year round but the North Rim is only open from around May to October. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon once and I really think everyone should experience this scenic wonder. Be aware though that many areas do not have guard rails, so do not venture too close to the edge. Several people fall to their deaths each year.

North Carolina’s Outer Banks comprise a series of barrier islands which are linked by bridges and ferries. This area is popular for its magnificent beaches. Weather on the Outer Banks is relatively mild year round, but remember that August and September are peak months in the hurricane season so plan accordingly. You may find some off-season rates September to May, so take advantage and enjoy this lovely area.

Miami, Florida, is most definitely a fun place to go on vacation. With its great shopping, festivals, street fairs, beaches, farmers markets, museums, attractions, parks, concerts, and even a zoo, this is a city that requires some time to explore. Not only will you find great places to explore, but also many activities such as biking, boating and sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, golf, tennis, and lots of walking! Many consider shopping an activity as well, and you can do plenty of that. In fact, there are a true bounty of choices as far as shopping in this city, on par with those found in world-class cities anywhere. Just about any taste can be catered to.

The Maine Coast. You’ll find hard-packed white sand beaches (with icy cold water!), beach cottages, hotels, and oceanfront restaurants. Kennebunkport is a classic old New England port town of stately white clapboard houses, lusciously green lawns, and beautiful rambling Victorian summer homes (or cottages as they are referred to). Then of course there is the shopping Mecca of Freeport. July and August are peak season, but the best time to go is after Labor Day. Leaves begin turning in September, and what a beautiful sight this is!

The relaxing feeling of being one with nature when having a vacation is a worthwhile experience. All the stresses and worries of the busy life in the metropolis are temporarily gone as you take some time out and free yourself from paper works and a thousand deadlines.

Once in a while, our body muscles need to be recharged by unwinding and relaxing. Taking anti-stress tabs can help, but real relaxation springs from resting, breathing fresh air, and getting yourself away from tense situations and avoiding too much thinking.

A number of refreshing places can be browsed in the internet. All you have to do is to choose where you want to go. Budgetary constraints and traveling preference are the utmost concerns. If you have decided to go anywhere, just sit back, relax and make the most out of it. After all, you need to reward yourself after doing all the hard work.

If you are looking for a nature-friendly environment, you may try Sedona with its delightfully refreshing ambiance. It is two hours’ drive from north of Phoenix with an environment of gigantic rock formations and reddish soil giving its surroundings a good sightseeing spree to behold. The Sedona’s vicinity looks like the Old West and kids can relate to it as the home of Road Runner and Wile Coyote. The place is filled with romantic destinations or family tour locations, warming getaways, hotels, resorts and spa.

Planning to go there can be truly exciting, especially if you know the short-cuts and directions to get there fast. From Phoenix to Sedona, it is about 113.4 miles and the estimated traveling time is only two hours. One option you can do to reach there is to take I-17 North/Flagstaff (98.4 miles). Then you drive to exit 298, Exit Ramp (0.2 miles). Turn left (west) on SR-179 (FR-618 Rd); this takes 0.1 miles. Just head on straight onto SR-179 (14.2 miles), then turn right (east) onto SR-89A (North Highway-89A) taking you 0.2 miles.

The traveling time from Las Vegas, Nevada to Sedona, Arizona is 5 hours, traveling 278 miles to get there. It is quite a long ride; but don’t worry the travel is worthwhile. If you are from Los Angeles, California, you have to tread on 482 miles and travel 7 hours and 30 minutes to get to Sedona. First take ramp onto US-101 in Santa Ana Fwy. Keep left in I-10 San Bernardino, which takes about 368 miles. As you reach Arizona, take the ramp right onto I-17 toward Flagstaff.

Other roads are under construction; so better be updated on road conditions. You can visit www.scenic179.com to check on road conditions or you can tune in to Highway Advisory Radio on AM 1630 for updates.

To get there easily, it is better to bring with you a map, lots of water in your travel and a set of CDs while traveling to keep you awake all the time. Even with the atmosphere in your way to Sedona, you can already enjoy the scenic spots around you. So don’t mind about the travel, it is part of the experience.

For some famous tourist attractions in Sedona, you can visit Los Abrigados Resort and Spa and the Rainbow Trout Farm. One popular church in Sedona is the Chapel of the Holy Cross. If you like traveling by air, it has Sedona Airport. Make reservations early to make sure your planned vacation is hassle-free. For art gallery exhibits, you can spare some time in Sedona Heritage Museum. Sightseeing spots are made available in Bell Rock, Oak Creek Canyon, Snoopy Rock, Out of Africa Wild Park and many others.
